WP7V material is a special cold work tool steel patented by Dörrenberg Edelstahl, which is alloyed with high chrome, molybdenum, and vanadium. WP7V material has high resistance against quenching. Among its properties are high compressive and tensile strength, as well as resistance to hot wear. It is suitable for CVD and PVD coating.
In terms of both chemical and mechanical properties, it lies between hot work tool steels and 12% chrome cold work tool steels. WP7V grade material performs exceptionally well in working environments where hot work tool steels undergo abrasive wear, and cold work tool steels tend to fracture. Due to its higher toughness and tempering temperature compared to 1.2379, it is preferred by users.
It exhibits higher wear resistance than impact steel and has become a sought-after steel in iron and steel factories, making flying shear blades and profile cutting blades.
